LongvilleThe coffee shop in Longville is growing in fame due to its specialty coffees and the live entertainment. Stop for a cup of java and stay for display of local talent-and it's not just limited to singing! If nature is more to your liking, Woman Lake, one of the most beautiful lakes in the state, sits on the edge of town. Travel around the area and drive by lake after lake after lakeā¦. The towns north of the Twin Cities may be small, but they are huge in creativity and fun! This is another example of a town that hardly extends beyond a few blocks, but is bursting with industrious people, solid businesses, and endless activities.
Longville is most famous for its summer Turtle Races. Anyone can take part in these exciting and fast-paced races as turtles are available on-sight for those who don't have their own. Set those turtles in the middle of the race track, then stand back! And watch them give it their all to be the first little four-legged shelled creature to cross the finish line. Run Around Woman Plus, hosted by the city of Longville, is one of the best races in the north country. Arguably one of the most beautiful race courses in the state, runners follow a 30K meandering trail that completely encircles Woman Lake and cross the finish line in town. And if running around the entire lake is a bit too much, they also host a 5 mile run/walk for those who still want to enjoy the beautiful scenery this town has to offer. Car and motorcycle enthusiasts are drawn to this town every summer for the annual Collector Cars and Motorcycle Show in early June. What better place to show off your masterpiece antique vehicle before taking it for a great drive through the countryside. 4th of July is as big here as anywhere else in the area, with a parade, an abundance of activities and games, and spectacular fireworks over the lake to end the day. But the fun doesn't stop here - the end of July brings Summerfest to Longville with fantastic art, food, and music for all to enjoy. And if you didn't get enough at this event, stay for Taste of Longville in August and enjoy the best the local restaurants and organizations have to offer to tantalize your taste buds while enjoying displays of local art. Longville is another link in the Fall Has It All events that make the autumn viewing of the leaves changing the best in the area. The event lasts 17 days, but it starts off with a bang in Longville with Oktoberfest. This is a great way to see the fall colors, enjoy some local culture, and get a true feel for the flavor of the people who donate their time and talents to make the area shine. The best part of living here is not just the events the town has to offer, but being a part of making them happen. What better way to get to know the people, become part of the community, and take ownership of the place you now call home. |
